What this site is
GAMEFAST is a directory of browser ports, recompilations and open-source engine rewrites of classic games. Every listing points at a project that somebody else built and hosts on their own domain. This site hosts no game files, embeds no games, and mirrors nothing.
What we do
- Curate. Listings are picked by hand. The test is whether a project runs in a browser tab without an installer.
- Check links at build time. Every listing is fetched and recorded as live or down. Anything that fails is flagged LINK DOWN on its card rather than quietly left to rot.
- Label what needs files. Open-source engines such as OpenMW and OpenRCT2 run in the browser but read data from a copy of the original game. Those cards are marked NEEDS FILES. Nothing else in this market tells you that before you click.
- Send the traffic where it belongs. The PLAY button goes straight to the project. The authors keep their own visitors, their own analytics and their own donation links.
What we refuse to do
- We do not host, mirror or re-upload game files.
- We do not distribute ROM images or disc images of any kind.
- We do not list sites that push a launcher, browser extension or player download as the price of entry. That practice is how people get malware from this hobby, and it is the one warning we put on the homepage.
- We do not spoof or proxy another site's game so the player stays on our domain. If a project's authors want their traffic, it is theirs.
How the catalogue is built
Candidates are collected from public sources, then each one is opened and checked. The build records the verified/live state of every link and stamps the catalogue date in the footer. Counts shown on the site, such as how many links are currently down, come from that build pass rather than from a claim.
The sibling site
BlitzPit is a separate property run by the same people. It is a hosted portal with its own games and its own advertising. The two are deliberately kept apart: GAMEFAST carries no ad network and hosts nothing, so a complaint about one cannot do anything to the other. Where a game exists on both, GAMEFAST points at it, because playing it in place is faster than opening a second tab.
Cover art and trademarks
Cover images are taken from each project's own site and are used to identify the game being linked. Game titles, characters and cover art belong to their respective rights holders. Listing a project here is not a claim of affiliation with, sponsorship by, or endorsement from any publisher or rights holder.
